1.Set Meaningful Goals​

Make sure your goal is meaningful & compelling, generalizing is not enough e.g. “I want to be rich”.
Figure out how to solve problems or make something better.
If you the first person doing it, you will have a competitive advantage & will be first to market.

2. Seek Out Criticism​

It’s a common misconception that the best ideas are infallible.
Get as much feedback as you can from people you trust, you will need it.
Make sure you keep re-evaluating yourself to avoid blind spots, we all have them.

Make sure you believe in what you are doing. Be open to new ideas and criticism, even the best ideas needs to be refined.

3. Don’t spread yourself too thin​

Focus on one thing at a time well, give it your all. You should also be working harder and longer than everybody else.
That’s how you get more done in less time and that is how you get ahead.

4. Contribute to society

Create more than you consume. Aim to positively contribute back to society for personal and financial reward.

5. Don’t try to be a leader​

A lot of the time the people you want as leaders are the people who don’t want to be leaders.

6. Read books and ingest good information​

Elon encourages people to read a lot of books, try to ingest as much information as you can.
You need to develop a great general knowledge so you at least have a rough lay of the land for any knowledge landscape.

7. Learn to talk to people​

Talk to people from all walks of walks of life, from different professions and with different skills, learn as much as you can from each of them.

8. Embrace Failure​

Failure is part of success. Redefine your relationship towards failure, it’s unavoidable and necessary for innovation.

9. Choose to Be Extraordinary​

Challenge and question the norm. Surprise and do the unexpected. Always aim for greater goals and deeds.

10. Be useful​

Find something to do that is useful to your fellow man, ‘living a useful life is life worth having lived.
